Two new services are added to the Manchester Museum's public offer; Play + Learn, a space for mediated family activities and the Resource Centre, where objects can be requested by the public for direct study and research.
The facilities are located in galleried spaces on the Museum's top floor to exploit available natural light. Both spaces are delineated by purpose built units that are
used to display objects and fitted with a combination of custom-made and mass-produced furnishings.
Study tables in the Resource Centre are constructed from birch ply with rubber insets for each work-space - melamine-faced tables provide a more serviceable surface in Play + Learn. A single colour palette is employed to unify the spaces.
